Steve Johnson
, a resident of
Poughkeepsie
,
New York
has been involved in magic since age nine and
has been performing magic and juggling professionally for over 20 years.
The Magic Variety Show can be seen throughout the northeastern
United States
at resorts, festivals and performing arts
events. In March of 1993 the Magic
Variety Show traveled to
Gainesville
,
Florida
for a return engagement with the Gainesville
Chamber Orchestra. Extensive
preparations were made to integrate magic with select musical pieces, which
included making the conductor magically appear!
"It
was in college that I learned juggling in a physical education class taught by
Greg Moss, one of the foremost juggling instructors in the nation."
At that time Steve arranged a juggling routine performed to a mix of
classical music, which has become his trademark.
"Greg and I have become close friends and I often consult him about
juggling ideas and technique.
From 1987 to 1999, Steve had been involved in the Tannen Magic
Camp, the
only summer camp of it's kind in the U.S.
that teaches magic skills to boys and girls
age 9 to 18. "I feel privileged
to have been a member of the staff at the magic camp.
The kids are great to work with and are extremely innovative in coming up
with new ideas for magic."
Steve Johnson
currently holds lifetime membership in The
Society of American Magicians and The International Brotherhood of Magicians.
